do you guys have first hand experience/knowledge of HS taking certain supplement powders that are not allowed in college. Son has been coming home saying few teammates are ordering powders online that r marketed at muscle builders/energy boosters and after rdg about a few I'm finding some contain ingredients that r banned at higher level. What is tested, measured with drug tests that schools perform? Son knew they were banned at next level so assuming his teammates know and are still taking. Where r the parents? My son doesn't bring anything into this house and mixes shakes  without   me checking it out first. So much crap  out there that messes w body, heart, etc.

should I mention to coach without mentioning names or details that he may need to discuss supplements w boys or myob.

Most products you find at GNC aren't NCAA approved. Wouldnt  exactly say there's much danger in using these...just not NCAA approved. Your average dude lifting at your local gym isn't using a NCAA approved Whey Protien & Creatine but it's a normal product To use.

Probably just HS kids using Whey, Creatine, T-Boosters or Jacked 3D or similar stuff that may not have the NCAA stamp. NCAA is very restrictive and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't even allow energy drinks due to the caffeine.

I wouldn't think too much of a kid using an off the shelf product not NCAA stamped In HS. Those guys just need to know you won't have those legal but not NCAA approved products to lean on in college.

playball,

I understand where you are coming from.  This is a situation we dealt with.  We were looking for products for my son and some friends with older kids pointed to the dangers of most products and helped us in right direction.

We have tried to do the same with others.  Some parents want to listen and some don't care.  Seriously; many parents will just flat out not care.  As long as their son is gaining weight or getting stronger or what have you; they won't care.

Sad isn't it.

My son has used Advocare products and I agree...high quality products that are safe.
