Geesh, I thought freedom of speech was protected! Of course, then they'll ban smoke signals because it somehow offends the sensibilities of the Native American population.

Why can't a few smart people get together and start over with a new organization that better represents colleges athletes. Competition is good, right? That's the problem with the NCAA because without competition they are free to dictate the market.
Most special interest and activist groups will never accept things as they are or as they should be. Doing so would suggest that they are not needed. If things are running smoothly they have to create a problem (or the perception of a problem) just to ensure their existence. It makes no difference if it’s the NCAA, NAACP, UAW, or your states high school state athletic association --- they all tend to exhibit some self serving traits after a while.
It really seems that the NCAA is doing a diservice to the game of baseball with all of this nonesense. By restricting this they're reducing the number of fans who are able to follow the games, they ought to embrace anything that can potentially grow the fan base.

Last year at the Atlanta Super Regionals my wife decided she was going to buy school T-shirts for the kids, and my son was going to get one of those goofy big yellow wigs. Nope, couldn't buy either. The NCAA only allowed NCAA sanctioned merchandise to be sold at the stadium gift shops.
In Omaha we had to buy so many gifts for family and friends we sought out the non licensed t shirt vendors. Difference was about 5-7 dollars a shirt. Any gift shop that is involved with any NCAA event cannot sell unlicensed shirts and hats.

I enjoyed the live blogging, I like to read other's perspectives while they are watching the game. I found it great while we were at the regionals for the other games as our hotel did not carry the games on ESPNU.

Does the NCAA think I would prefer to follow live blogging and not watch thier games or listen to their commentators?

I agree, anything that is done to promote baseball should not be squelched.
