I looked at the questions that come up during registration for 2011 and later players. 2010 and older players use a different website with a different user interface.
One question is roughly "has the registrant played with teams other than high school at or after age 14?" I think that most baseball players who are interested in playing in NCAA competition play travel ball, and for many, it would be a simple exercise to establish that fact. For example, USSSA allows searching for a player's affiliation with teams, publishes in some instances the number of innings pitched, and if the player was named MVP or other honor during the tournament. Also, Perfect Game allows searching which will reveal participation (complete with comments on perfomance) in WWBA tournaments.
Some of the follow-on questions include "was score kept?", "did players wear uniforms?", "did you pay a fee to the team?", "how many games per season?", etc.
So I think this question should be answered "yes", and the details of each team filled in. The only question which concerned me is roughly "did any teammates receive expenses, etc." I suspect that some teammates may have paid less fees, and in a few instances, I suspect that even travel costs were subsidized. However, I don't know that for a fact, nor can I realistically guess the amounts that may have been involved. But the only choice is Yes/No, with follow-on questions if the answer is Yes. We ended up answering "no."
