In looking through the NCAA division 2 manual for scholarship guidelines I came across this information that might be of some interest and was something I wasn’t aware of.

As it states below Baseball has a limit of 9 financial aid rewards (basically full scholarships). As many of you know these are broken up into partial scholarships. The piece I find interesting is that there is an overall limit of 60 excluding football and basketball. If you look at the number allowed per sport (minus football and basketball) the number is much greater than 60.

Understanding that not all D2 schools have all of these sports; it would be an interesting question to ask a coach during the recruiting process how baseball fits within that athletic program overall. I’ve seen other posts that recommend asking if the baseball program is fully funded. The guidelines below in my opinion document the importance of that question.

15.5.2.1 Maximum Equivalency Limits
15.5.2.1.1 Men's Sports. There shall be a limit on the value (equivalency) of financial aid awards
(per Bylaw 15.02.4.1) that an institution may provide in any academic year to counters in each men's sport,
as follows:
Baseball 9.0
Basketball 10.0
Cross Country/Track and Field 12.6
Fencing 4.5
Football 36.0
Golf 3.6
Gymnastics 5.4
Ice Hockey 13.5
Lacrosse 10.8
Rifle 3.6
Skiing 6.3
S****r 9.0
Swimming and Diving 8.1
Tennis 4.5
Volleyball 4.5
Water Polo 4.5
Wrestling 9.0

15.5.2.1.1.1 Overall Limit. An institution shall not provide more than an equivalent of 60
total awards in all men’s sports other than football and basketball in any academic year.
