My son is a 2011. He missed the entire summer through winter showcase season due to injury. He wasn't expected to be able to even start throwing until sometime in May. He's been cleared to throw and should be at full strength by the end of May. Since we didn't know his status he's not on a showcase team although we may have a discussion with last year's team he couldn't play for.

He'll be nominated for SelectFest in NJ. He'll do Atlantic 100 in PA. What are good exposure showcases in New England earlier in the summer where he doesn't need to be on a team.

The Franklin Pierce clinic was one of the worst I have seen.

There were about 120 players there. It is a moneymaker for the team.

They had the pitchers throw at 10:00 in the morning on the s****r field and then do fielding. A great deal of time was wasted as most of the players stood in the field while one player hit. Then there was more fielding.

The pitchers did not actually pitch until 5:00 in the afternoon. All the pitchers looked prety spent by the time they got to throw off the mound.

Showcases like the one at St Johns and Assumption are much better with games where the players can actually show how they play.

RJM - If you have anyway to get him to the Yankees Area Code tryouts, they are another key place to get exposure. Besides the fact that they are free, the amount of scouts and the type end up being comparable to SelectFest (I can't compare to the Mid Atlantic Top 100 as my son did not attend). Best of luck to your son.

Aren't Area Code Tryouts/Games for Juniors Only?

I think you might be right. It would be something to check out if going a PG year. Not sure of that is the case here?
There are many ways to get exposure the best being, play on a quality summer team that plays in events that coaches attend. If you have interest in a specific school, call the coaches and ask which events they will be at. Just like a summer team, all colleges have set recruiting schedules for the summer.

PG showcases are still the best and I personally do not believe that over 100 schools attended this one event in LI. Selectfest has been a great event for years and the tournaments at Diamond Nation are growing in popularity amongst college coaches and teams. Have an idea of where your son fits academically first and foremost then on to evaluation as a player.

Area Code, ECP tryouts are free to the player and are very heavily scouted. They are invite only and every year there are a few underclassmen invited. It is very competitive but worth it if you can get that invite.

Great to know about the UCONN Summer camp. My son was planning to attend that this year.

Junior had a great time. Well worth the money. Getmynameout.com was a good value. There were about 30 scouts at the one we went to. Mostly D2, D3 and some D1's.

Perfect Game was more oriented towards higher level players in my opinion but still worth the experience.
