NE is kinda sleepy

Rising Star in Bedford, NH made a full committment to baseball this year. They are the home base for Butch Hobson's Baseball Academy and host the NE Catching Camp. I believe they have 2-3 cages, a couple of clay mounds, indoor baseball leagues and access to the new indoor regulation s****r field.

There also is a new facility in Nashua, NH called Nashua Baseball Academy with a couple of cages. Very small facility run by local youth baseball coaches.

Salem, NH also has a new place called Play Ball run by former minor leaguers and current high school coaches. They have a nice but somewhat small facility with 5-6 cages, 2-3 pitching mounds, and about 100 feet to throw. Unlike Homerun Park, Play Ball is heated in the winter time!

There are a number of indoor baseball places in Central Mass. Homerun Club and Strike Zone in Worcester. A place in Auburn. A new place opened up just across the border in Connecticutt.
I tried to talk my son into going into an old Tobacco barn to practice as it's long enough to play catch in, but he wanted no part of it. Much rather Dad pay.

sox fan1630 - funny, wait until he gets older and that tobacco idea might sway him! When I was 16 a local kid who made it to AA ball with the reds asked me to catch a bullpen for him while he was home for christmas...we found space at the local beer distributor wharehouse - a bit cold, and now that I think about it, dangerous!

We recently had to find a new place for my son while he was home from college for winter break....he had been a member of the Hit Dogs for several years...locallly in Dedham there are some cages next to Play It Again Sports...the draw back is only the fellow who owns the facility throws to the batters and each bucket of 50 balls is $15.00....since he hits 100 -150 balls at a session this was not feasible for us....RBI in Foxboro is a new, lovely, well lit facility....$20.00 per half hour but my son was able to go with a friend and they split the cost so they stayed for an hour at a time...they will be opening a new weight and fitness area in the next few months which is really what we were searching for so that he could continue his regime of conditioning and hit while in the same place and further not have to pay for another membership somewhere else...I asked if they would be having some kind of special membership offer for college boys as they do not need all the "perks" that are currently offered in a membership package...they are persuing that idea for the summer months... advisor...I am interested in the facility opening in Needham...where will it be located

catchermom - needham location is still in negotiations and I was asked not to specifiy location, but they have not signed a lease yet so you can imagine the timeline...BUT I have good news for you!

The Ponds, on route 1 in Norwood off Access Rd towards the Norwood Airport - Decathlon Sports, has a turf field, has put up a neeting and will rent, 1/4. 1/2 or full field for baseball. You need a partner as they supply L-Screen, balls, but not any machines. Call and ask for Jim Piatelli, the owner 781-762-9055.

Integrated Sports Training in Norwalk, Ct is run by Glenn Katz,a former member of the Devil Rays organization, and is terrific for stength and conditioning. It also has excellent hitting facilities and has really grown this year.Of course, the Batters Box in Hamden, run by Bob Turcio, remains right at the top for becoming a better hitter.
