Lets start a discussion on the need for a state championship and just how that could be accomplished? Take regional champions - add a super regional - then a final state championsip would be very nice - it just might attract more media and fans to our great game of baseball - I know other states do it succesfully.... they do it for Basketball too - It sure would be nice to see how the northern teams fare against So-Cal..... What do you guys think??? Teams would have to develop a deeper pitching staff and get the entire bench to pitch in as well... You see how the teams that just rely on 2 pitchers fare in regular season - but if we had 3 deep single elimination rounds after our regular section playoffs - then it gets real interesting - i would say have a small break betweem regionals to rest arms.... any other thoughts??? For the team that wins it all in California the reward would be great..... It has always bothered me to see local news channels dedicate an entire hour every Friday Night to Football - and Baseball gets nothing - even at the college level do you rarely see any local coverage on news... it just aint right.... A Huge State California Championship jusy might even attract some national coverage - like Fox Sports Net or ESPN2 or at least live Internet coverage on CSTV.com or BaseballwebTV.com - All it would take is for the CIF Sections to agree to a trial run.... Texas has one of the biggest High School State Championships... Why shouldnt California??? Please give me your honest comments so we can pass them on to CIF..... If CIF is not interested perhaps we can get Perfect Game to step in and select all the regional champions to organize an unofficial California State Championship right after school lets out... i bet the coaches and kids would all be up for it... Kind of like a mini Omaha California World Series. Than if ut catches on we could do it nationally with all the state Champions to play each other - That would attract tons of media and scouts...
