Armor,
The inquiring school is trying to establish who they are competing with for your services, plus they could also use this to verify your authenticity as a viable recruit. (they don’t want to be the only big D-1 recruiting you). They are basically compiling information that will help them establish a strategy when they recruit you. I would try to list schools that are equal or slightly “better” that the school requesting the information. Seeing how this school is out-of-state, I would include at least a few out-of-state schools. I might add that when in doubt, honesty should prevail.
During the recruiting process, always try to put yourself in the position of the recruiting coach and see things from his perspective.
Good Luck,

As usual, I agree with Fungo's advice.

However, our son usually left that portion blank at this point in time...or "TBD." Our reasoning for this was that it was too early to know who might be the 5 or 6 schools that he would be serious about when it came time to be serious.

When he began to be recruited for real...i.e. phone calls, in-home visits, campus visits, etc..., he told the coaches the list of schools he had narrowed it too. I thought it was somewhat helpful as most of those coaches then were able to take their best shot as to why THEY were the best choice for him versus the others. Most were good about giving good credit to the other good programs on his list.

There is an excellent publication that is called:
ADVISING STUDENT ATHLETES through the COLLEGE RECRUITMENT PROCESS (and other topics)It's a complete guide for counselors, coaches and parents. The author is Michael D. Koehler. I've had this publication in my collection for years and I wouldn't be without it. I highly recommend it. You can order/purchase it at Barnes & Noble for around $30. Any one who is considering ANY baseball program at any institution should be prepared before hand - and this book will help a lot.
