At 11 & 12, my youngest & most of his team batted with -8.5 Exo's. From the white ones through the blue ones, they were & are great bats. The scandium ones were not out yet, so no feedback. After aprox 70 tourn games in the 12's, his 30" yellow Exo had a few small flat spots. Never had that problem in the 11's but he is a very strong hitter & faced much higher velocity pitching in the 12's (mid to high 70's at 50 ft). Several of his teammates also used his bat, so it was well worn. The Voodoo's are very popular in the -3 models, but seem to not have much of a following in the sr league sizes. Locally, for the last pre HS bat, the Demarini to swing was the CF4, my boy loved his & many of his teammates used it as well over their Exo's, Omaha's & Combats. Bunch of pop & the CF4's never go dead. My boy went to a drop 3 late last summer. The first -3 he hit with in a tourn was one of the composite Stealth speeds. The -3 Spesds are outlawed now for HS use, too much pop, yet you will still see them in play at many 14U tournaments. Good luck to your 12. If he's big & a really strong hitter. might even consider a smaller -3.

Pitcher's throwing high 70's at 12U? Wow. Smile

I've seen 72 in the 12U Bronco World Series (kid from Panama). It was kind of comical because of all the radar guns that were out.

Even the average HS freshman throws in the low 70's.
we are tryin to decide between the Voodoo and the TPX EXO. He is 12 (13 in June) looking at a 30 or 31 inch and like a 21 - 22.5oz bat.
I prefer to stay with a smaller lighter bat (EXO 30-21) to be quicker and have better bat control. Couple of kids on his team have the 31-22.5oz EXO or some other bats even bigger.
My son is 11 years old and swings a 31/28 Voodoo and he is no man child. ( 5'3 90 lbs ) but plays 14u. After the selfless daddy plug LOL. The Voodoo has a lot of pop.

However with the new bat regulations that will go in to effect starting in the fall. I personally wouldnt buy a new baseball bat this year because it might not be legal by fall. From what I have heard most youth baseball travel and rec organizations will decide by July what bats will be legal and whether or not there are other restrictions on certain type bats.
