Here's the situation... I don't know what camps to attend this summer. I am wondering which will give me the most exposure as from Canada, I can only make the trip down to the states for individual showcases a few times. I wrote my SAT and got a 2240 (I dunno how in the world I pulled that off, but hey I'll take it). I was thinking like headfirst honor roll and Harvard's prospect camp as I have made contact with them, but I am also wondering if like TPX Top 96 or others like it are better or if there are any others I should look at. I talked to my summer ball coach and he said he thinks I could play in the ivies, but I may have trouble getting looked at as I am smaller and don't have incredible tools (He said +fielder, +contact hitter, then nothing that is a weakness but nothing that would be strong, run a 7.05 in the middle), but he said he thinks I could be a consistent starter in the middle of my college career. Basically he said though make sure I have some D3 saftey schools.

Also, how much effect will my SAT have on getting me into some of the tier 1 academic schools. Could they take me even if I was a worse player to boost their academic index or is that not the way it works.

Go to HeadFirst in Richmond - good mix of DIII and DI, and ALL top notch. If you can only do one thing, with your background, do this. Best to hurry, though, because the sessions fill FAST.

Also get in touch with Tom Rizzi through this forum. Look for TRHit, click his name, and PM ('invite to private topic') him. He is in Connecticut and I bet he'd have some great advice.

Any of Perfect Games bigger showcase events would be good for well-rounded exposure as well. They have a big event in Wareham, MA (at least it used to be held there...might have changed).

I absolutely second the Headfirst showcase. While my son didn't get any offers out of it (plus he didn't score like you did on the SAT, btw GREAT JOB!!!), it is a well run showcase. I know several of the organizers for the events and they are top notch.

With your grades, you may also want to look into the Perfect Game Academic Showcase. While my son never went to this particular showcase, PG is a class act (we went to other showcases they ran).

GOOD LUCK!!!!

PS....your coaches idea of looking at some high academic D3s is a good one.....
baseballhsplayer,

If you are interested in Ivy League schools... Ask the IVY League coaches what events (outside their own camps) they think are the best, or which ones would be the best for you. If you do end up going to the Harvard camp (as you mentioned) ask them. Depending on your skill level and goals, they might suggest several different options.

Best of luck
