I'm helping my 2018's team for the 2017 season with marketing/networking. Been through to a lot with my 2016 that included many of the major PG hosted tournaments. This team is not as strong, yet has a couple of D1 prospects already.

We all have been to the typical, promotional local tournaments. Not the strongest teams in general. with that being said, very few recruiters or scouts in general. You may see a couple on the final day.

With budget in mind, I'm looking for a step above these types of tournaments, yet not necessarily PG hosted. Tournaments that you were surprised at the number of scouts in attendance. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Area Code Showcases in the Chicago area (Chicago Scouts Association) is likely the best way to get college exposure in the midwest, though it is a showcase, not a tournament

Same thing with the PBR Future Games at Grand Park in Indiana, which is going on this coming weekend.

I'll let others comment on Tournaments, though I will say I've heard good things about the Cincy Flames Tournaments in Cincinnati, and the Pastime National Championships in South Bend, IN

Buckeye Elite in Columbus and Midland in Cincinnati has usually lots of scouts. The down side to these and most of the tournaments vs a Lakepoint is the games are spread out over a rather wide area. So the key is to get the scouts to know where you are playing and when. specifically if you have college level pitchers. but even position players. The coach/ players need to let those they are targeting (or who they know are targeting them) know the details. I think for Ohio at least, the goal would be to be invited to invited to PBR top prospect in first week of June (there will be 100 plus colleges there). We pushed our 17U team to try to get as many invites as possible to that. 8 went to it out of 14. this gave our travel team enough players that we always had a few colleges at games looking at somebody. Then as you have interest, As I said earlier let the colleges know when and where.

Thanks 3and2

Actually 2 of our kids were invited to the CSA tryouts for the White Sox team. Didn't make the team as young sophs however have some interest.

Mainly looking for tournaments. Been to the Dinger Cincy Flames, is one we are leaning to. Interested in the others. Thanks for the suggestions!
