Our school's server "crashed" and almost all of the data was retrieved from the back up.......except for mine and a couple of other teachers.

Years worth of baseball is gone....charts, expectations, forms, recruiting info, etc....everything GONE. You never realize how much info you have and use until it dissappears.

Just wondering if any of you guys could send some of your stuff so I could get a head start on replacing everything. We have a scrimmage today, and I am going to have to see if I have hard copies left over from last year to run off for today.

Thanks in advance,
Coach DePriest

If the website is on the school's webserver, then they should have backed it up. But, it's always a good idea to have your own backup just in case Wink

I know many schools are forcing/encouraging sports programs to use the school's website (mainly because of losing/not renewing old sites), so backing up and how-to-update the pages is becoming a problem.

How to put this out there and not be too critical of our guys?.......We have a back up to our server that backs up work weekly and does a full back up monthly....

Well, our back up did not have enough storage space to handle everything (this was known to the tech guys before the crash) and data was lost.
d8...sounds like your IT guys have a lot of keypunching to do, after all, their job is to restore the system in the event of failure...most of us just assume they would prefer to restore from a backup rather than re-creating the data manually. But, since they accepted the risk of a manual re-creation process (they knew it was not being backed up due to storage space), give them any printed copies you have and tell them when you need it by and then thank them for their extraordinary effort!

coach2709....THANKS!! I opened it this morning when I got to school. I had a chance to glance at some of the files and it looks like great stuff. After I get through stomping out ignorance in my physics class, I plan to look some more. Right now after one inning we are tied. Maybe I can pull ahead with the next class.

Also, thanks to the rest of you guys that were so willing to share. This will be a huge help. Plus I am always looking to learn new, better, different ways to teach the game of baseball.
