One general statement about nescac schools is that they do not allow coaches to have coaching contact with the players in the fall and up to February first. All fall baseball activities are run as "captain's practices". I'm guessing that the conference philosophy is that athletics is important, but secondary to the main reason the kids are on campus. As I'm sure you know these are very high academic schools... (Somebody please correct me if my facts are a bit off... but that's the way I understood when it was explained to 2014 and me).

Luckyone,

What information are you specifically looking for?  Recruiting?

My son was recruited (not seriously) by Williams and Amherst about 4 years ago, but he was more (seriously) interested in Tufts for their engineering program.   The biggest challenge with Williams and Amherst is their low admissions rate.  It is very similiar to Ivy recruiting where the coach is pretty much at the mercy of the Admissions Committee.  Recruits are expected to submit Early Decision applications in exchange for the Coach's support through Admissions.   If your son is close to the metrics of a non-athlete, and he is a very good baseball player...he has a chance at one of these schools.  Williams and Amherst are the two toughest schools overall to get into among the NESCAC schools.

These are need based financial aid schools.

PopTime2014, you are correct.   Captains practices only in the Fall is what we were told..
