Although this isn't baseball related I think it might inspire people to ponder how they respond to adversity. The head women's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee didn't burn her bridge against Pat Summitt. Holly Warlick was a player that Summitt was considering offering a scholarship. As luck would have it Holly severely sprained her ankle the week coach Summitt came to see her play. Holly didn't play up to her ability because of the injury and coach Summitt ended up not offering her a scholarship. Holly was a very good track athlete and she ended up getting a track scholarship at Tennessee. Coach Summitt allowed her to walk on. After that first year she did earn a basketball scholarship her final three years. She became an All American and she is making over a half a million a year as head basketball coach for the University of Tennessee. Good thing she didn't burn her bridges.
