OK, this is kind of fun. We are getting a new bat to break in for spring. May be looking at the Anderson Techzilla -9. Can't find one in any store around so he has not been able to swing it. Anyone have any experience with these bats? How is it balanced? Does it compare in feel to any bat that might be more readily available to try out? Any advice is appreciated.

My worry about Anderson would be durability. We are a TPX family. The most durable bat out there. They are very well balanced also.I can't ever remember seeing one broken out of the 500+ ball games I have watched.I bought my first TPX used(32/23.5) when my son was 11.It was his first big barrell. He used it 3 seasons(fall, spring, fall)about 130 games. He hit a ton of HR's with it,so pop is not a question. It still looks like the day we got it!
The Techzilla does have a lot of pop. My son, 12 last spring, won the home run derby for his age group using the Techzilla. He was the smallest kid out there. Every homer was a line drive.

The warranty service is great with Anderson. By last summer, the inner wall became loose. I sent the bat in and received it back in perfect condition in less than two weeks.

They say the Techzilla is to be used up thru 12 year olds. If the boy is very large for his age, the bat may not take the pounding he will put it thru. The Pyrotech XT -5 is the transitional bat they sell to get them ready for high school at age 13.
My 12YO son has the new Stealth and the Anderson Tech (yeah, I know, I spoil him, but it's his last year of LL Smile).

Anyway, he hasn't had any games yet (cold in RI), but he's using both in cages. He's really starting to like the Tech's pop, and he learned that it feels lighter (less end-heavy) if he keeps it more vertical. He likes the feel of the Stealth too and everyone on the team wants to use both.

Both seem to have good pop, but I'm expecting/guessing him to hit the Tech a bit further this year. We'll see. Wink
