Many college programs are NIKE schools. They have always used NIKE from nearly everything. Nike realized it's BBCOR bat was not producing rave notices. They allowed the colleges they sponsor to use other bats this year.

That said, these colleges started testing bats. Two brands became the choice for nearly every college involved. One is a well established name in Baseball, the other somewhat new to the metal bat world but very big these days in wood bats.

Looks like the top NIKE college programs, after testing all the available bats, determined that they will use one of two brands. I can't say which brands they are. Seriously, I really can't.

However, I think it will become very obvious once the college baseball season gets going. Many people will be surprised! The marketing didn't matter, the players and teams made their choice after testing them all.

THe Marucci Cat 5 is a great bat. Haven't heard great reviews of the Black one, though.

Demarini seems to be the other favorite with my kids.

The Rawlings 5150 is in a distant 3rd.

Rip-its and a Kelley round out our dugout.

Shockingly no one is very fond of anything from TPX or Easton, the 2 best BESR companies in my mind.
We had a chance to demo both Marucci bats (Cat 5 and Black) and all 6 Eastons. Absolutely no comparison. The Eastons were no where close to Marucci as far as performance (all demo'd at the same field so it was easy to see how they performed) The Cat 5 was also the favorite over the Black. We got a team deal thru Marucci and ordered 21...20 Cat 5's and 1 Black. Since they came in, I know there are at least 20 more on the way for teammates of kids who had got them with us.

My son loves his Marucci Cat 5 and tried out the Marucci Black and said he liked the Cat 5 better. Good to hear since the Cat 5 is $199 compared to the $299 or so for the Black
