I have heard through the grapevine that Pikeville's coach - Johnnie Lemaster - has stepped down. The two leading candidates both played at the school and are now pretty successful high school coaches. Does anyone know anything?

Well I got word today they are interviewing four people for the head job.

1. Chris Lawson - Pikeville High School Head coach - he has had a tremendous amount of success in the 15th Region plus he is a local boy from Pikeville, played at PC and has always said he only wanted to coach at PHS or PC

2. Kevin Kochs - Spaulding (Louisville KY) head coach - built Spauldings program from the ground up and has been to deep into the playoffs of NAIA

3. Don Ashby - Asst. Coach at PC last year - I don't know a whole lot about him - if what I heard is correct last year was his only year of coaching baseball at any level plus he did not play at the college level - once again not sure if that is true or not if someone knows different please clarify

4. Don't know his name but he is the pitching coach at either Campbellsville (KY) or one of the Cumberlands (TN & KY). Obviously if I have no idea what his name is then I don't know anything about him.

I am pulling for Lawson. He and I played together at PC and he is a good friend of mine. Although Kochs seems to have a great chance with what he has accomplished.
