I believe Harvard is one of three Ivies that now charge 10% of annual income for families where this is a better fit.

Green Light asked....Any information out there about the Harvard assistant coaching staff....LoRicco and Birtwell? Will they both be retained?
Great question. Birtwell is listed on the coaches website. He is a Harvard alum, so the roots are deep there. LoRicco went from interim Head Baseball Coach (Aug 21) to not being listed on the website today. He has either left the program or the website folks are not up to speed on all the changes.

Calcaterra will be responsible for recruiting at Harvard. Should be interesting.

Calcaterra had an abysmal record at Hartford (79-236-1 in seven seasons) and was relieved of duties mid-season back in 2011 when the team's record was 3-34-1. It's certainly not scientific (and there are two sides to every story) but there is some evidence online that at least some of his players did not have the utmost of respect for him or his methods.

You are no doubt correct.

Whoever it is will have their work cut out for them, as they deal with the void created by Walsh's untimely demise and the impact of Harvard's "Cheating Scandal." New Heead Coach Decker will do a fine job no matter the situation, that's for sure.

Harvard's 2013 roster is not yet posted (neither is Brown's, for that matter).

Green Light, slotty, trhit, and twotex,

I agree. Decker has some big shoes to fill as both Walsh and LoRicco had been at this (together) for a long time with Harvard's last ivy championship in 2005 and 2002. Dartmouth currently owns the Rolfe Division (Harvard, Dartmouth, Yale, Brown) with back to back Ivy championships in 2008, 2009, and Dartmouth has represented the Rolfe in the last 4 Ivy championships losing to Princeton in 2011 and Cornell in 2012. I fully expect Dartmouth to be the Rolfe favorite in 2013. Columbia, Cornell, Princton and Penn represent a very tough Gehrig Division that will be even tougher this year. Presumably the Gehrig schools will fight it out to play Dartmouth again.....but stranger things have happened. The last two years have seen teams go from last place the previous year to ivy champs the next year.

Decker is going to have to recruit extremley well to compete, as he took over the program late in the Ivy recruiting process. It is a great opportunity for him and the current players but they have their work cut out for them. There is a small universe of recruits that qualify for Harvard, and a small window to get them. That window may be extended right now as they try to find quality players. They lost their starting C, DH, 2nd base and top lefty Pitcher. It is entirely possible there are a couple Trinity recruits that would be interested (and qualified) in Harvard, but he needs to replace 8 seniors. So there is both the quality and quantity challenge late in the recruiting cycle.

Likely Letters are still in play right now, and their may be some ED/RD exceptions to help the team in Coach Walsh's passing....I'm just guessing there. I've heard from many the new Harvard field is incredible, and I'm looking forward to seeing it this Spring.
