New England--Thanksgiving Indoor DeMarini TOP 96

Usually Demarini lists the schools that will attend their event. My son did an event this summer and it was attended by several schools, 6-7 schools which we thought he could potentially play and academically qualify and would be a "good fit". I thought the event was good and it did have exposure. No specific experience with the NH event.

Knowing the year of your son and position would be helpful. Not sure if the NH facility is large enough to play games which I think is important for position players.Ultimately you should make sure there is a legitimate match between the schools attending the event and your son's school interest.

He's a MIF/P that's still looking at school options. It's just another chance to get comfortable with showcases and drum-up some possible interest but we still do not want to just throw money away on it. I doubt there will be live games. Position players will work-out at a local high school. Guessing a gym or MAYBE an indoor football facility. Popular for HS teams down south but I rarely see those here. I'm not sure how college recruiters view indoor showcases since live game play isn't possible.

The question I would ask is if they take 60 times. They can certainly check out his infield arm strength, softness of his hands, stance/swing and pitching ability indoors.

I've been to this facility. It is very nice and larger than most I've seen in NE, outside of colleges.

It seems that Extra Innings in Nashua is closed. Website no longer exists and the phone number is disconnected.

Too bad leaves a void for indoor facilities with winter coming.

Agreed twotex. I think an indoor evaluation can give a coach a pretty good idea as to the talent level of the player. There's no doubt that a coach would make arrangements with the player to see him play in a game if the player really impressed indoors and the coach thinks he's a possible prospect for his program.

Ouch! That sucks redsox. I think my son wants to head down to my home-state to attend a Univ of Central Arkansas winter camp. Guess I'll start making plans. Thanks for the update and let me know if you hear the closing is just temporary. Thanks.

Wow, that is tough. I had just looked at that website last week to make sure it was the one I remembered. I took my son there a couple of times for instruction with Coach Weaver.

Their facebook page said they were temporarily closed for renovations and management change and was to re-open August 1st. So unless it is running way behind schedule I'm afraid it is closed. The director for my son's summer team next year said he had heard it was closed for good.

Was a nice facility too.

The showcase was moved to Franklin Pierce University. Looks like it will be held in the "the bubble" which is their dome.

My son attended one of the TOP 96 clinics at Tufts and felt that it was well run. Several scouts were in attendance from schools he is interested. We have signed up to go to the one at Franklin Pierce this Thanksgiving weekend. They always seem to put on a great program. Many other players we know have attended and have nothing but positive things to say

Looks like a trade up on the facility change, at least for this purpose. I agree with EC on the TPX events - my son went to one and it was as they described it. The written evaluation was spot on.
