Harker beat out a strong group of candidates that included former Clemson HC Jack Leggett

I think the public perception of the value of Leggett is much greater than the actual. There's a reason he is out at his former school.
So, I might agree that he may not have "beat out Leggett" in that there may not have been any real consideration to hire him to begin with.

Indeed he did. I really thought Landon Powell was going to get this job. But Furman made a great hire. There is still going to be a lot of movement in the coaching ranks this off season. Several positions are still available.
I could google it, but what would be the use in chat forums then. Is Tejas still looking for a coach? Have they thrown a billion at the Coastal coach yet?
I was talking to some guys the other day and they mentioned Gilmore. The topic of conversation was who was going to be the "Big Name" program that was going to go after him. Personally I can't imagine Gilmore going anywhere else under any circumstances. That's HIS program. He left USC Aiken and built Coastal from the bottom up. From now on when people think of CCU they will see Gilmore's face much like IU basketball and Bobby Knight, UCLA and Wooden, UNC and Dean Smith, etc etc. I understand he has only won one NC. But he is the face of Coastal Carolina.
Interesting new dynamic with guys forgoing established programs to stay at ones they've put their stamp on.
