David Coleman said he's excited about becoming a head baseball coach for the first time in his 15-year coaching career.

He's even more excited about coming home to Lubbock.

The 37-year-old Coleman, a Monterey and Lubbock Christian University graduate who has spent the last seven years as an assistant coach at Texas A&M, said Tuesday that he's accepted the vacant head-coaching job at Lubbock High. Coleman said he interviewed for the position on Friday, accepted it over the weekend and plans to move from College Station to Lubbock "as soon as possible."
