Mike or Shawn,

I was on your site and looking at the fall baseball tab and noticed that you had a new "Prospect League" that was for Freshman and sophomores only as part of the Elite Division along with the Showcase League.

Can you tell more about this program or is it too soon? Is it for kids who were freshman and sophomores in 2009-2010 school year or that will be freshman or sophomores in the coming 2010-2011 school year? Is it like a "Jr Showcase League" kind of like there is junior legion and legion ball?

Just saw it and was interested in learning more. With games on Sunday kids (like mine Razz) who play football would still possibly be able to participate which would be excellent.

Hopefully I'm not jumping the gun by asking these questions.

Details for this will likely be hammered out by the end of the week. Looks like probably two teams, players who will be freshmen and sophomores during the fall of 2010.

We likely won't have seperate tryouts since we will already be holding four and all high school aged players can tryout.

I think I will probably start taking Showcase League tryout registrations next week.

Mark- I thought you were going to blow up my spot on the new Softball Showcase League....

So here are the details as alluded to in Shawn's post about Frosh and Sophs about the Showcase league.

This year the GSBA will be running a Fall Prospect League of the top Freshman and Sophomore players. This is for players who will be in grades 9 and 10 in the fall. The tryouts will be held in conjunction with the Showcase League tryouts (same time and locations). The season will be a 7 week season with 2 or 4 teams depending on the number of players that try out. Coaches will be independent coaches with a solid baseball background either playing or coaching at high levels.

Each week the teams will play on Saturdays along with 1 practice per week. This will give the ability for these players to participate in the Varsity league on Sundays. The games will be at local fields in NH.

The cost of the program is $250 per player. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am helping Shawn and Mike out on the logistical side for the program.

Tim
