Baseball player of the week (3/28): Hurst Bell's Hunter Lockwood

What he did: Lockwood had two hits in each of Bell’s three wins, going 2-for-3 in Saturday’s 14-13 win over Richland. He hit his area-leading 12th home run in the first, walked with the bases loaded, hit a two-run double and drove in the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh — his sixth RBI. Lockwood is batting .486 with 33 RBIs.
Who is he? A 5-11, 185 senior catcher and Oklahoma signee
The stats: For the week, 6-for-11, with a home run, four doubles, nine RBIs
He said it: “Coach said that I was pulling everything, so I should stay with a right-center approach at the plate. It’s been paying off.”
Coach said it: “This week is kind of indicative of what he’s been doing for the last two years.” — Paul Gibson.
Did you know? Bell aims for at least 14 quality at-bats each game after the team saw a sign with that mantra at The Ballpark in Arlington.

I posted the rankings but just really took a look at them...in 5A, seven of the ten ranked teams are from District 7 (3) and 8 (4)...should make for an interesting 1st round.

Doesn't seem fair that four very good teams will go home after the first round. But I guess you would have to play them at some time. Just wish it could be in round 3 or 4.
Just two very strong districts. It's been some impressive baseball to watch at the HS level.
I know i told everyone to watch out for hillcrest before the season but I am dumbfounded how they made the rankings.

11-0 win against Bryan Adams (Weak)
5-4 loss to Richardson Berkner.
I know it adds to my credibility somewhat but they are not a top 10 team.

SGP threw their starting catcher against them in the championship of the GP Classic. It was also both teams fifth game in three days.
