Mu 06 took it Saturday and thought it was substantially easier than the old SAT; we'll see when the scores arrive. Hope he was right.

My son (06) took it too. Said the Math was more of a challenge, but was suprised at how "easy" the Essay was. As far as "minimum" scores, I don't think the NCAA has set a standard (2400 is "perfect"), yet, on the new SAT, as many schools are simply ignoring the Essay scores and still using Math and Verbal only.

The NCAA has stated that it will only count the math and verbal scores on the new SAT for eligibility. The new essay does not count toward NCAA qualifying, but it does count towards the admission process.

Do not forget that you now need 14 core classes is you are a 05 thru 07 grad

For the 2008 grads you will need 16 core classes

Also note that Computer Science is no longer acceptable as a core class

One last note--- most colleges require at least two years of a foreign language--NCAA does not necessarily require a foreign language although the option is there for one year as a core class.

Do not forget being NCAA eligible does not assure you of admission to college

One more note-some colleges will exempt a student from a foreign language requirement if they had 3 years of a language in high school.

I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean language studies, like in english or lit?
