New TCIS Tournament Champion

Congrats to Cape Henry on a great tournament win. Only wish I had been in town to see the game.

(and continuing those nitpicking ways, the 12 year run is regular season conference championships for GCA....they won the TCIS tournament in 2005 and 2006...NSA won in 2004.....not sure how many GCA won in a row prior to 04)

Consider my nit picked! This is what happens when you rely on hearsay!

If you want to get nit picky the tournament champion is the conference champion in all sports in the TCIS. The only thing the regular season counts for is seeding in the tournament. It is otherwise meaningless. Not something I agree with but its the way it is.

I am a long time GCA supporter. My son graduated in 2002 and played baseball. All I've got to say is congratulations to Cape Henry. (Tip of the hat) Since my daughter plays on our varsity softball team I was able to see parts of both games. In the first meeting GCA was able to hit Morey and pulled out a win... Cape Henry helped with the base running mistake that robbed them of some momentum. The TCIS final was our chance to make a couple of costly errors that too, robbed us of momentum.

I didn't get to see the first inning in the TCIS final, but from the second on, Morey was truly "on" that night. He was hitting his spots and the fastball was topping out at 93. His 75 mph curve looked like it dropped off a shelf and dove laterally. The scouts in attendance were most impressed. I'm confident Morey will have the chance to play pro, but whether he will get enough to bypass UVA's scholarship ... we will see. Bulman too will get his chance to play pro.

The scouts I talked with were impressed with both teams ability to hit pitching that exceeded most HS levels.
