new to this can i get some advice

I have a son who is a 2012 graduate. He had a very good summer playing travel ball and had a very good showcase and wwb perfect game tournament. He has garnered alot of attention from D1 and other schools. he has received alot of emails and questionaires and he has spoken to some coaches. after all this he decided not to play football this season for his high school team . what's next. what move should he /I make?

It sounds like he's already made his first move by making a decision to go with baseball only. If he's already on the radar, have him continue playing with a good high profile team in your area this Fall, and make sure he sends his schedule out to schools that he's interested in. He probably doesn't play too much in the winter living in NY, so that would be a great time to hit the weights/plyometrics. Good luck to him!

Congratulations. Sounds promising. Question for you- You mention that he has spoken with some coaches. I didn't think that they could talk to 2012's until after July, 1 2011??? Is that true???

D1 coaches can't call a player until July 1 following the junior year, but they can receive a phone call anytime, and can talk to any player who is visiting their campus.

So a coach who wishes to call a player can instead go through a high school or travel coach, who will in turn ask the player to call the college coach. After Sept 1 of the player's junior year, coaches can mail/email, and directly ask the player to call.
