I'd like to take the time to introduce everyone here to High School Star, a site I recently started for high school sports news.

My coverage area is the Delaware Valley, which includes Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, South Jersey, and northern Delaware, and I've tried to touch on a variety of sports, but many of my recent posts have been about baseball.

Check it out if you have a minute. And send your photos and video of games of your local teams to:

Yeah, if you want to see a baseball site that has been beset by "talking trash" - in other words without regard to some basic rules of etiquette - well, I was going to post a link to a Northwest 'area' baseball site I used to go to, but I won't. Suffice it to say, things will go downhill fast if you allow that kind of stuff.
Highschooler,
I give kudos to kids with initiative and drive.
I think your site shows a real effort and one that I am sure demands alot of time. Way to go kid!
Making things happen and focusing your efforts in an area that could ultimately set you up for a career in your future. ( journalism, communications, etc. )
I shake your hand and wish you continued success with your endeavours!
Highschool kids making a difference,...good job!!

Thanks for the encouragement.

While I have your attention, High School Star is looking for a guest blogger for the summer.

Ideally this person should live in the Delaware Valley (South Jersey, Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, or Delaware), and be able prove he or she lives there.

I am looking for someone who could contribute about one post per week. This person can be a player, a coach, or possibly a parent (who has some unique ideas for posts). Post pictures and videos of summer league games, talk about camps you are attending, write about how you are staying in shape for the summer.

Unfortunately this not a paid position. If you are interested, e-mail me at editor@highschoolstar.com

Thanks,
Jon
The New Colossus...or...We Need Galoshes

Give me your mired, your bored,
Your not so subtle masses yearning to heave debris,
The wretched refuse that all your teams abhor.
Send these, the hopeless, trash-talkers, to me:
I sift, I tamp...always sold on more.
.
.
.
.

Whatcha' got here? Two trash barges? Bring 'em around to Slip No.5...grab a deck chair...it's gonna' be awhile.

Seriously highschoolstar...you've got initiative and drive. That's good...just couple it with creativity and you'll be a success. Providing a forum for talkin' trash is not creative and will not lead to success. Krak has provided you with his experience...there's a lesson there.

Get a feel for what the baseball community in your area really wants and then deliver. Keep us posted highschoolstar.

Just so everyone is clear, gotwood4sale, the line about trash talking is gone from HighSchoolStar.com's profile. Check it out and see for yourself. It hasn't been there for like a week, and there is not even a trace of trash talk on the site.

Like I said in an earlier post, it was something I put there when the blog was just getting off the ground, kind of like a working title (or profile), and then forgot about until MWR-VA pointed it out to me.
