Freshman and Sophmore year spring hs season on Long Island (think cold) approx one bat per player. This past spring as a junior probably 3. As the pitchers throw harder more $ is needed for broken bats. Each player needs 2 or 3 bats as sharing bats is a problem when they break.
Just curious coach, what was the differences in the games between last year (metal) and this year (wood). Average scores, game length, defense, pitching and kids adjusting to wood?
Average varsity scores, in a pretty balanced league, were likely 5-6 runs total in his games. His team had good picthing and light hitting so overall league was probably higher - just a guess. 7 inning games averaged under 2 hours. Hitters adjust pretty quickly (public schools use metal and some struggle early in summer which is also wood) overall.
