Newcomer of the year! All district yes?

In the paper, are there any newcomers who made all-district?. That should clear it up.

Newcomer of the year don't mean all disrict. It might equate more to Rookie of the year or getting an honorable mention.

Apologies but I don't get it. Defensive MVP not listed as all district either but is he or is he just defensive mvp? those other award winners not listed anywhere and are these awards better or is there no where else to put them. sorry confused...

You should really ask someone within your district. It's different everywhere. Here, there is an all region team. They also name an MVP and a pitcher of the year - they are considered to have made the all region team. There are no patches or anything, so it doesn't really matter.

So how does the offensive player of the year not make the all district team? Best pitcher not an all district player?

I understand that the sophomore of the year is the best sophomore but not good enough to make all district. I understand a newcomer could be any grade but is the best of the first time varsity guys not good enough to make all district. I don't get it.

I would guess he's the top first year varsity player/rookie of the year, but not all-district. Ask someone local who knows.

Are the newcomer oty and offensive player oty awards you mention, team awards or district/region awards? Team awards usually have a very different selection process...they're chosen by YOUR coaches...around here, the all-region teams are voted on by the coaches of ALL the teams in the region. Just throwing out some considerations.

Its a very nice award. Enjoy it, don't stress. Doesn't matter in the end if he's all-district or not...unless you make him (your son) think it matters.

"Newcomer of the Year" - Very nice! Be proud.

"Not all-district, What the heck?" - Makes you look bad and your son feel sad.

Stop Obsessing. It's a local award. It's nice. But it ain't gonna help when it comes to college ball, which I assume is your goal. In fact it could hurt if it goes to his head.

Focus on the long term and don't worry about this kind of stuff.

At the end of the day does it really truly matter ???

Newcomer of the Year, Defensive Palyer of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and District MVP, are all superlative awards in our parts of the state (I'm in Ft Worth too). These awards are considered better than all district.
