Well if everyone out there is anything like me the indoor winter training thing has just about run its coarse.30 days from now theres typically some 50 degree days hanging around. Here in C.C. instead of being the smallest school in 3A we are going back to our normal larger school in 2A.Of coarse it certain things stay on certain paths it won"t matter but theres always hope.We are adding another pitcher this year that will give our #1 pitcher a real run for his money.Should be real fun watching that play out thru the year. Our abundence of LH pitchers is over.A real possibility we won't have one.Tho that should not be the case.We are dropping P.C. off the schedule and picking up JCA instead.Hope that game gets played out.The last 2 years the P.c game did not.Weather 1st year and not enough pitching for the week to play the game.Which was too bad as wins have gone in both directions when the games were played over the years.Defense has been the killer for us the last 2 years. Its been so bad most would not believe.Personally with what future could hold I don't understand why that problem is not addressed. Our 8th grade team has put a team in the final 8 3 out of 4 last yrs. walking away with a 1st and a 3rd.We not only have player on the V more are on the way.The first of those teams are in thier jr. year after a youth movement of sorts of soph. last year at the v level. The jca game is early in the year should be a real test.Hope that one gets played.

Are you with a high school team? What is the 8th grade final 8?

Yes.HS V. The final 8 is in reference to how Il.(I'm guessing you are not) plays the jr. high baseball. Its played in the fall public and private entire state then spit into 2 divisions a+aa then play a @ 3 week state tourney.final 8 is the 8 teams that go and play the last ??? 4 games it takes to declare state champion.
Thanks for the reply. I have been in Illinois for a long time and involved with baseball for quite a while just didn't know anything about jr high baseball. Thx
something to keep an eye out on is this pretty stellar tourney in KY that has quite a few IL teams going to. Should be good games, great talent.
2bag what year is son? Jg imagine your going correct? Is your guy starting?Don't remember from last year.
Nope he is out of high school. Started 3 years but now done with high school and college. Just look at this site on occasion to see what is going on in high school as I pay more attention to travel is all. Best of luck to you and your son this year.
No proud, not going...no son yet either, just a daughter. I coach HS baseball and follow all IL baseball, travel closely. I know some kids and coaches going to that tournament, thought it was good to share.
I know this will come across as some big talk.I am convinced if things were handled right here.my guys could go down there and win a few games. We played one of those teams last year along with alleman.Went 1-1 and was just out skippedin the loss. The win wasn't close,Didn't realize at the time the quality of both programs. What a shame oh the possibilities.

the question becomes does Louisville recruit anyone outside of WV? I didn't count but there must have been 10 or more that were referenced to LU.
There was "1" Il. kid.lol

wow that looks like it will be a blast. If my son didn't have an AAU basketball tournament that weekend I think a road trip would be in order. Good luck to you guys!

Sounds like the Coalers are loaded with talent. Coal City should walk right through the Interstate 8 with no problem probably undefeated my sources tell me.
I think that could be considered wishful thinking.Of coarse thats what this time of year is all about.Keep in mind the last 3 years down there not only can't the "team" catch the ball/play defense. The starting pitching is left to rot on the vine way too often. One thing that might help is the AD.With his kid in HS(fresh/jv) maybe he'll get a clue on how the P.C. On both teams are allowed to happen.
Good luck to CC this Spring. Nice peeps down there and have a very good MS and youth program. However your AD did you no favors dropping Provi off the schedule for JCA who has more D1 committs than 10 Joliet area schools combined. They are a 3A team that could seriously win 4A this year. It will be a big test for the Coalers to see how many balls they can keep in the park that day.

Sox fan and talking JC and Provi baseball... my kind of guy! Going to take my son to the JC Carmel double header (closest to wisconsin) so he can see what real high school baseball is like!
I used to do the same thing with my son and we loved it! There is so much quality BB around for them to see and get them attached to playing the next level. I really respect those 2 programs. Yes, recruiting does happen at the private schools (both reached out to my son), and sets them apart alot from the publics, but its always great BB when the CAtholic leagues play in the spring. Enjoy the game!

I coached at both places. Less recruiting than you think. Mainly cause kids WANT to go there. In football Gordie never had to recruit. People came to him. And if you know your local sports history I am sure you are well aware of basketball programs like lockport of the 70's and king in chicago.. So its not just the privates! But I say recruit away and may the best school win! Its a free country!
LOL! I'm sure many would send their kids that way if they could. You are correct. Win some State titles, kids keep going there, build your program, then repeat! Where did you like coaching the best?
