Some of you have been kind enough in the past to ask to be kept updated on son's path.  I promise I'll be much shorter this time

He is headed down the home stretch of his second year as HC in the Valley League.  He is excited to be making a move in the Fall - joining the staff of a competitive mid-major D1 with a reputable head coach.  The school is very in tune to the latest technology and, aside from some other coaching and operational responsibilities, he will be involved in translating the data, video, etc., into actionable steps toward player development.  (I want that job!)

It was another difficult first for him to tell the players and staff at his current college that he would be moving on but very excited for him - seems like an ideal opportunity and next step.  The down side is that he will still be on the other side of the country but he will have a chance to visit us between the end of his Valley League stint and the start of his new job.

I guess the jersey is going to stay on a while longer.

BLD - Thanks for the kind words... the Valley League has been a great experience for him.  There are some restrictions that apply to current NCAA coaches that don't apply to NAIA coaches so there is a bit of an unknown at this point as to whether he will continue there next year.

BBMom - great to hear from you and I hope son's recovery is going well!  Maybe he can hook Alex up with the Rangers to take his place when he is back on the mound .

Congrats! Knowing Alex, he will hit the ground running and have an immediate impact on the program! Very proud of him!

Can't wait to catch up at the upcoming "Fourth Annual Wine Extravaganza"!

Thanks Brian!  Love those pics and really glad the 4th annual is gonna happen... seems like a few more obstacles tried to stop us this time around.  See ya next month !

For those who don't know, this reunion (and all that led up to it) is LARGELY due to the HSBBW community.

Congratulations and thanks for the update regarding your son.  It is fun to follow the progress of the posters' kids, and I appreciate the fact that you, and some others, continue to participate in the message forum even after your kids have completed their playing careers.  You are a valuable resource to those us that are still relatively early in the process.

I spoke to Cabbage, Jr. at the All Star Game and was glad to hear of his new job. He has pulled off the Trifecta at Covington: his players love him, his fans love him, and the administration loves him.  NCAA rules will keep him out of summer leagues next year-teams can sign no JUCO's if they have a DI or D II coach on their staff.  JUCO means they haven't yet set foot in a D I or II  classroom  following their JUCO career.  Lousy rule I think, designed to prevent "recruiting" the  guys they coach  in the summer, a bit of overkill but it's the NCAA so.....

Your boy is just a super guy and you can be very very proud!

Very kind words, Hokie... it really means a great deal to hear.  Now, would you stop beating the crap out of him on the field this year?!     Congrats on an outstanding year for the Express!
