I am a Senior Pitcher, Starter for the coming up year. Last year i played J.V. as a Junior, went 6-0 and won Best pitcher award. As this year continues, i have already been admitted to 5 schools. Playing on J.V. last year though i am worried that i will not have a good chance at a scholarship. I am certainly on the level of at least a Varsity pitcher now since i have worked my way up, but what step is next. Do i email coaches or wait for something to happen? Basically, how will coaches know who I am.

Hello, Senior Pitcher! You've come to the right place to get some advice. Welcome to the HSBBW!

You're idea to email coaches is a good one. I would advise emailing the coaches of all the schools you've already been admitted to plus others that interest you. Make sure to contact many types of programs (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JUCO), as you can't be sure at this point who will be interested in you.

For ideas on what to say, visit this portion of the website:

http://www.hsbaseballweb.com/recruiting_tips.htm

Pay special attention to the "Recruiting Timeline" (highlighted in green) and "For Players, Parents and Coaches" (the top listing highlighted in black).

Being a senior, you have your work cut out for you. You might want to attend a Christmas camp at a school that really interests you. Also, check out www.perfectgame.org and see if there is a showcase you can attend.

Being a pitcher, you will have a better chance than most at finding a place to play, as pitchers are always needed. What is your size (height, weight, frame) and what is your current velocity?

Best wishes as you get started!
I am 6 foot 1, 165 lbs. and lean to athletic build. I throw low to mid 80's but i dont consider myself a fastball oriented pitcher. Of course it is neccessary, but i like to work in my breaking balls and splitter. My slider is probably the most break and movement. And although my fastball isnt the most heat ever i am good at hitting the corners and my targets.

As I am sure you are aware, being in Monterey you are near enough to several D-l programs to attend camps - you can go on the university websites, athletics, then baseall, then camps to see if any of them are offering upcoming camps. Usually the pitchers pay less since they usually only pitch one day of the camp. Most camps are not invite only at this time of year - if you/your parents can afford it try to go to a couple!
