I just recieved a few of books from NFHS and they are great for review. The book I am using right now is the 2009 High School Baseball Rules Simplified and Illustrated, I find myself referencing back and forth between multiple books. Great reading during the Hot Stove season, GREAT for coaches too!!!

Polo as a former head coach (and hopefully a head coach again) I am going to really commend you for the work you put in to make yourself a better umpire. You ask great questions and always talk about how you are studying the books. I know the good umps everywhere appreciate someone who works this hard but wanted to let you know that us coaches appreciate your hard work too.

It makes calls that go against us easier to swallow when we know the guy is a knowledgble hard worker. I wish I could get guys like you to ump my games all the time.
You are to be commended POLO!........to me it is the great indicator...the day an umpire decides that he has learned enough has just marked the day he started to fail....

congrats....

The books you talk about are good... and by now of course, you understand that the rule book does not teach you to be an umpire....for the mechanics, the methodology, and the interpretations.....your umpiring library needs to continually grow.....

In the future look to add a BRD and a Jaksa Roder and a CCA mechanics Manual.....that will give you a good basic library....

again congrats....well deserved....
