Who you got this weekend in the NFL wildcard games? Hopefully your predictive skills are better than policital prognosticator Dick Morris who had Romney winning CO, IA, MN, WI, OH, PA, NH, VA and FL. 0 for 9. Can you do better? I know you can't do worse. ;-)

Cincinnati at Houston
Indianapolis at Baltimore
Minnesota at Green Bay
Seattle at Washington

I've got Cinci, Baltimore, Green Bay and Washington.

Fenway -

We both live in Redskin nation, but there will be a lot of locals rooting for Collegiate grad and Richmond native Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.

He is easy to root for. Like RG3, he is TEAM first. Watch any interview from this year he always "signs off" with "Go Hawks!" I never heard ARod sign off with "Go Yanks!".

So, Go Hawks!
And also, Ravens, Green Bay & Houston.

But being that the Giants are done, football is over for me. The good news is that college baseball starts in 1 month!

Too many playoff games. Way too boring. They should just have the Broncos play the Patriots this weekend and get it over with. Oh, wait, that's the bowl game argument. Just playing with the anti bowl game people.

Cincinnati--Houston is in a big slump
Baltimore--win it for Ray
Green Bay--They dont lose two games in a row to the Vikings
Seattle--Just something about them this year, even though they are on the road.

Being a Pats fan, this is MUSIC to my ears! LOL, better luck next year.

I said before the year started that even if Eli never wins another game he will finish his career beating Brady in 2 Super Bowls and have 2 more Super Bowl Rings then Romo. I can sleep well knowing those 2 facts.
Texans over Bengals - Only because it's a home game

Ravens over Colts - Ravens defense too much for playoff rookie QB

Packers over Vikings - A dome team playing a 7pm game at Lambeau in January

Seahawks over Redskins - Seahawks defense too much for playoff rookie QB

Looking forward to Texans traveling to New England for 4:30 pm start in Janaury. And Texans, thanks for the bye.

I believe the AFC championship will be Patriots - Broncos. If Talib and Dennard are healthy the Patriots win. If not, bombs away. Take the over.

Brady's probably thinking, "There is a God." Big Grin

Anyway - my picks:

Houston - somehow they'll get out of their slump
Baltimore - Ray Ray is back and Luck is still a Rookie!
Green Bay - they're playing at Lambeau - enough said!
Washington - Redskins are the 2nd hottest team in the league with 7 straight wins. Gotta go with the hot hand!

And yes, college baseball starts in 4 weeks. My son starts practice as soon as he goes back next week.

You're right about that. It's always fun when your luck exceeds your talent! The Pats had their share of that as well.

If Patrick Chung wasn't such a poor safety he would broken in the correct direction and arrived in time to break up the pass to Manningham rather than one step late. This was a huge technical mistake and had far more bearing on losing than Welker not making a touch catch fans expect him to make. But the average fan doesn't notice a safety breaking two steps in the wrong direction at the beginning of a play. So Welker got the goat horns.

LOL - If the NFL playoffs were like the FBS bowl system, there would be one Super Bowl played among the two best teams as determined by a computer and sports writers while the other 16 "playoff eligible" teams would play one consolation game at a neutral site.

But that's a debate for a different thread.

Houston, Green Bay, Indy & Washington are my winners.

And thanks to everyone reminding me of those Giant / Patriot Super Bowls. Just when the scars start to heal, somebody reopens the wounds.

Oh, well...three out four.

Same here. Only one I missed was Washington. The way they started out, I thought they might win, but the offense sputtered after RG3 injured his knee. They should have gone to Cousins in the 3rd quarter. And IMHO, they didn't run the ball enough.
If that pool is the prize you'll have to come over to my place... check the records... first to go out on a limb with the Hawks and go 4 for 4 was this guy!

And by the way did anyone see RW's post game? As described.... finished with "Go Hawks!"

Also, I dont want to ruffle any feathers here, but I'm simply not enamored with Ray Lewis the way others are. His numbers are great, so no question he is a good player. But his dancing is ridiculous. Could you imagine Cal Ripken Jr doing that ****. Just comes across as selfish and spot light hungry.

And oh by the way, isn't he the same Ray Lewis that was suspected and accused of MURDER? Just because he was convicted doesn't mean he was not involved or didn't do it. Lawrence Taylor may have snorted his life savings away, but no one ever accused him of murder. Seriously, Lewis is not a role model.

Not that it is ok, he was originally charged with murder but that is different than being found guilty of murder. He ended up pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice.

From ABC News

"Lewis was originally accused with two others of murder in the stabbing deaths of two men following a post-Super Bowl party last January. He interrupted the trial to plead guilty to the misdemeanor and agreed to testify against his co-defendants.

The two co-defendants were subsequently acquitted."
Next round ....

Patriots over Texans ... Won't be as easy as last game

Broncos over Ravens ... Manning v. Flacco hehehehehehehe

Packers over 49ers ... Packers are going to the Super Bowl

Falcons over Seahawks ... Seahawks aren't going to win two on the road (3-5 in away games)

You are aware that rookie has more playoff wins than Matt Ryan?

Patriots (Ugh.)
Broncos.
Packers.
Seahawks.

Are you aware the Seahawks were 3-5 on the road this year including losses to the Cardinals, Rams, Lions and Dolphins, all sub .500 team? That doesn't bode well for a long run on the road. Plus it will be the Seahawks second cross country trip in two weeks while the Falcons have been resting.

Yep.

I also know they are playing a team with a propensity for one-and-done playoff appearances.

The Seahawks are a team with a propensity for not making the playoffs. Only one team in the history of the NFL has made the back to back coast to coast trip and won both games. It's wear and tear while the Falcons have been waiting and resting.

A combination of favoring home teams, and hot teams (or disfavoring cold teams) for me.

The Seahawks team that is playing right now is markedly different from the team that played ALL of those games, with the possible exception of the Dolphins game (which was the week after the bye, and they just didn't show up). From the Bears game on, a team that had a GREAT defense all the sudden had an offense! A truly great workhorse running back, for whom matchups against good running defenses seemingly don't matter, and a quarterback who has been unleashed, and who has an enormous capacity to learn and grow, week-by-week. Don't make the mistake of assuming that the 1st half Seahawks team is the same team that you've seen over recent weeks (and remember, the Hawks have now won six in a row, and have beaten good teams - the Redskins, 49ers, Packers, Patriots, Vikings, Bears - in addition to losing games against lesser teams). The Seahawks are a hot team on a roll. The Falcons have struggled lately, even in games they've won, and are only .500 over the last six.

You may be right about the difficulty of making that cross-country trip two weeks in a row, but I still think the Hawks are the better bet. I feel more comfortable with that choice than the 49ers over the Packers, or even the Broncos over the Ravens. Lots of good games coming up this weekend!

This is meaningless. The Seahawks' roster has had nearly 100% turnover in the Carroll years. What previous Seahawks teams have done has NOTHING to do with this team.

Yeah, but this will be the 2nd time the Seahawks will have to travel 3,000 miles for a playoff game. And he is still a rookie.

Though if Seattle gets past Atlanta I can see them in the Superbowl.

I have to say I was impressed with Wilson - he even blocked for Lynch.

It's a secondary argument you created by bringing up the Texans. The primary facts are the Sehawks were 3-5 on the road. They will be making a second coast to coast trip in two weeks to play a team that has been resting up from their regular season bumps and bruises. Only one team in NFL history has made the back to back coast to coast trip and won both games even if it was against mediocre competition in the regular season.

I have to say I was impressed with Wilson - he even blocked for Lynch.
Tom Brady was asked about Wilson getting downfield for the block. He said he would do the same IF he was that athletic. Brady suggested Peyton Manning and he run a forty yard dash race. He said it could be a one hour special.

Huh? I don't remember bringing up the Texans, at all. And I have no idea what you are referring to as "a secondary argument."

I acknowledged that the second cross-country trip in two weeks, against playoff compeition, is a solid, solid argument. I don't think referring to what "the Seahawks," composed of almost entirely different players, did 3 or 5 or 10 years ago is any kind of argument at all, much less solid, and I tried to argue that what the Seahawks did in the first half is worth next to nothing in predicting how they would perform in the second half (look at the differences in how the Hawks played the Rams and 49ers between the first and second games they played, for example). If you choose to, you're the kind of person I like to bet against.

So what do you say, RJM? A little side-bet? I'm sure Atlanta is favored (though I'd guess by 3-1/2 or less), but I'll take the Seahawks straight up.
