Based on the talent I saw in he GSBA's Showcase League I would say the following will be standing at the top of Class L come tournament time:
1. Londonderry
2. Trinity
3. Goffstown

Trinity is loading in pitching with Clark, Cole and Lyons however I question how strong their offense will be.

Londonderry probably has one of their strongest teams ever. Lead by Neverman and Caron these guys will have players coming off their bench who would be starters for other programs. Jake Finnegan will emerge as one of the States top pitchers.

Goffstown is strong again, I feel that Bisgelia will be one of if not the top left handed hitters in New Hampshire not just Class L. This player can hit for both power and average and he now uses the entire field. You add in the talent of his teammates Deconnick, Hunt among others they are a legitimate threat at the state Title again.

I would say keep an eye on Pinkerton, Concord and Central, Pinkerton has two solid starters in DeBonis and Calvetti and the middle of their line up will be filled with the giant Zack Mathew (I know this is spelt incorrectly). Central has quietly assembled a very strong roster with the like of Kevin Veuiex (again spelt incorrectly), Travis O'Connell and the addition of Cole Warren to assume the role of ace. Warren and Veuiex give Central a solid 1 - 2 punch, if they are able to find a legitimate 3rd starter they will be looking to host a first round game. I sat down with a Class L Coach this past week who actually suggested that Central will be hosting first round to me, and after some thought I could not agree more. Concord has a legitimate ace in Nick Poulin a sold #3 in Colin Lisk the question will be if Concord can come up with a #2, George Siegal is the guy Concord is looking to fill the hole. Tom Heath will provide the offense, the question will be can Concord put guys on base for Heath to drive in.

Finally, remember the name Nick Poore, the sophomore southpaw will see time on a varsity mound for the first time in 2009. I personally feel he will impress. As a 15 year older competing against some of the top hitters in the State of NH this past fall he struggled at points but for the most part was dominate, in 22 innings pitched Poore fanned 44 batters. He combines a high 80's fastball with a devistating curveball. Under the coaching he will receive at Salem High School you will see Nick Poore develop into a very talented pitcher over the next three seasons.
I have been thinking more and more about it, keep an eye on Central, I think they are the surprise team of the year. I don't feel they have enough to break the top four but they will turn heads is my opinion. I personally am looking forward to the arms on Trinity will do this year, I honestly feel their bats are not as strong as other programs but I have always felt that good pitching beats good hitting more than not. I would like to see Garrett Cole receive the credit his ability deserves but I think he is often considered an after thought because he pitches behind Dylan Clark, who is also a very talented pitcher.
redsox8191 - I will openly admit that my knowledge of the Nashua Schools is limited at best. I see very few of their players in the GSBA Showcase League, I do plan on taking in more North, South and BG games this spring so that I can evaluate those teams better in the future as well as scout players for our program for the 2009 season. We did have DeCostis who did a great job for us and should be solid for the Panthers this season.
I would have to agree with most of the teams said in the discussions above. Londonderry is loaded with talent throughout their lineup and has the ability to go all the way. The player to keep an eye on from Londonderry is Dan Lagasse who has quietly become a solid baseball player overall. Trinity can honestly say that they have three legitimate arms in Clark, Cole, and Lyons. As mentioned by GSBA don't sleep on Pinkerton Academy who along with Debonis and Calvetti have another live arm in Brandon Bell who will be a strong starter this year. The Astros just need to find some offense to help support their strong pitching.

Goffstown has the tools all around them to repeat with the likes on Bisceglia, who is a monster at the plate, DeConick, Hickey, Palmer, Hunt, and others to stay in the conversation all season long. One thing is for sure it will be a long and interesting season
ABC1234 - You are absolutely right about Lagasse. I have heard about him for a few years now but had a chance to see him play this past fall and he is solid. Danny has a great approach to the game and although a quiet kid he plays with a level of intensity that is tough to match, the type of kid that makes you want to coach. We are looking forward to having him back in the Showcase League in 2009.
GSBA, Coppinger is at St. Thomas. Great kid, I was on a thread in here that talked about 5 tool players and it said you would know one when you saw one. Coppinger is one, I coached him in Cal Rpiken at Dover, he's not just a great player but a great team mate and all around kid. He comes from a great family too, can't say enough about what a great guy his dad is either.
