Based on the talent I saw in he GSBA's Showcase League I would say the following will be standing at the top of Class L come tournament time:
1. Londonderry
2. Trinity
3. Goffstown
Trinity is loading in pitching with Clark, Cole and Lyons however I question how strong their offense will be.
Londonderry probably has one of their strongest teams ever. Lead by Neverman and Caron these guys will have players coming off their bench who would be starters for other programs. Jake Finnegan will emerge as one of the States top pitchers.
Goffstown is strong again, I feel that Bisgelia will be one of if not the top left handed hitters in New Hampshire not just Class L. This player can hit for both power and average and he now uses the entire field. You add in the talent of his teammates Deconnick, Hunt among others they are a legitimate threat at the state Title again.
I would say keep an eye on Pinkerton, Concord and Central, Pinkerton has two solid starters in DeBonis and Calvetti and the middle of their line up will be filled with the giant Zack Mathew (I know this is spelt incorrectly). Central has quietly assembled a very strong roster with the like of Kevin Veuiex (again spelt incorrectly), Travis O'Connell and the addition of Cole Warren to assume the role of ace. Warren and Veuiex give Central a solid 1 - 2 punch, if they are able to find a legitimate 3rd starter they will be looking to host a first round game. I sat down with a Class L Coach this past week who actually suggested that Central will be hosting first round to me, and after some thought I could not agree more. Concord has a legitimate ace in Nick Poulin a sold #3 in Colin Lisk the question will be if Concord can come up with a #2, George Siegal is the guy Concord is looking to fill the hole. Tom Heath will provide the offense, the question will be can Concord put guys on base for Heath to drive in.
Finally, remember the name Nick Poore, the sophomore southpaw will see time on a varsity mound for the first time in 2009. I personally feel he will impress. As a 15 year older competing against some of the top hitters in the State of NH this past fall he struggled at points but for the most part was dominate, in 22 innings pitched Poore fanned 44 batters. He combines a high 80's fastball with a devistating curveball. Under the coaching he will receive at Salem High School you will see Nick Poore develop into a very talented pitcher over the next three seasons.
