Here is a link to a very nice story about Minor League Baseball down here. If you don't know, Bighit15's son plays for our local team the Gateway Grizzlies. I went last year to watch him pitch and he has a lot of talent.

Story!

In this story, they mention Coach Roy Lee and his son Bill Lee. Bill runs the league. I played with Bill and for Coach Lee a few decades ago. Well, I walked past Coach Lee on my way to the water bucket a time or two.

In the story it also mentions Owen Brendel. Wow, what a guy! He was a local legend and played professionally. He started my town's little league baseball program. When I came to Triad, he drove the bus to all the away games. WHY? So he could go to all of the baseball games. He was one of my buddies and always wanted to talk baseball. I sure do miss him. Once we were playing our rival school, Highland, and Owen got thrown out. How do you throw out the bus driver? They made him sit on the bus. I'm smiling a lot thinking about him. A lot of young men in our community owe Owen a lot. I'll never forget him.
