Our ESPN friends (Cardinal fans say that only with extreme sarcasm Wink) made much of the Braves' injuries. However, the Cards played without Rolen for virtually the entire season, and without Sanders, Molina and Walker for a significant portion --- half the starting lineup. Third base and the corner OF positions were platooned most all season.

Both Edmonds and Pujols played injured --- Albert with that heel-thing all season, and he still hit over .300 every month but August....with guys like Molina, Grudz, and a broken Walker hitting behind him for "protection".

He led Jones in every defensive stat except RBI and HR. Including flippin' Stolen Bases. I'm sorry, but when a first baseman leads a center fielder in SB, that's just weird. Big Grin And Albert ain't fast -- but he's a smart baserunner.

Jones' HR total is, of course, impressive; but hitting .207 for the season with RISP sure isn't. Nor is a September BA of .209 when your team is in a division race.

Albert has put up these numbers every year he's been in the majors. With respect to Jones, his 2005 numbers are finally what was expected of him since his impressive debut.

After the voting the last few years, I was only grateful that he didn't lose votes (again) to Bonds. He put up some pretty impressive stats those few weeks. Wink
