Son's school is closed for Veterans Day so he won't be signing for the camera's until tomorrow. But I thought it would be a good idea for him to do sign for real in one of three places he has spent the most time preparing for this moment in his life: one of his hitting locations, his strength and conditioning location, or Driveline Baseball where he's been working on his arm since he was 14.

Kyle at Driveline will celebrate his athletes, but is more about the journey than destination, so we ruled that out. We didn't want to favor one of his hitting spots, so I ruled them out. So he's going to sign at Riley Athletics after his performance training session this afternoon. It's a totally appropriate move as Ryan Riley (ex-Clemson, ex-Tampa Rays) has done as much for my son's preparation to be a baseball player as anyone, and for that I am eternally grateful. Plus, the thought of signing in a high performance environment, with the boys he's been busting his tail with for the past three years; it just feels right.  Can't wait until 5PM PST!

Congratulations to all the boys of the Class of 2016! Enjoy the journey, wherever it takes you!

Many congrats to the both of you. In a way I feel quite honored by your rejection of Jacob signing his NLI here. It is indeed about the journey rather than the destination, because the destination is unknowable.

And of course, Riley is awesome.

Closed for Veteran's Day! That would kill me; even as a vet myself. I'm a state employee, so I get the day off. My kids do not. That is exactly what makes this and Columbus Day my favorite holidays.

Congrats!!! Signing day is a special accomplishment. It is like getting to the start of the marathon... all of the training has been done and your son can finally enjoy the long and winding race over the next four years. That is the really fun part!

I knew you would, buddy!

Yes, the University of Washington. Signing was fun and we're still bathing in that warm glow two weeks later. This is probably an oppotune time to thank the High School Baseball Web community at large for the information and entertainment provided here.

I started reading the HSBBW when my son was too young to even be thinking about college. I got the link from Catchersdad, the father of one of our area's finest players and young men, who himself has been a fabulous role model and mentor for my boy. Catchersdad and I connected and we became friends and he told me that reading the site would be highly valuable if Jacob sought to play beyond High School and he was very correct.

Our involvement in travel basebaland in particular, to Perfect Game events would have been much delayed if not for this forum. Our approach to deciding on whether or not to attend camps or to showcase was guided by this forum. Our approach to communicating with coaches was modeled on the advice of posters to these forums. And our approach to engaging the schools that were recruiting my son in the end, was guided by the advice here.

I think regular readers here know well, that recruiting can be a morass unless parents prepare for it with their boys, well in advance of the actual moment of truth. And for those that invest the time, this is the best free resource on the internet through which to sift the myriad experiences that occurred before our sons' recruitment.

I am grateful to the longtimers and the newbies alike. And I look forward to trying to help make some other parent's life a little easier on their son's journey.

Thank you, Catchersdad. I will never forget what you did for me and what Alex has done for Jacob.

Congrats! I remember my son's signing day last year. He and 4 other D1s were set to sign along with 3 more D2s from their HS team. Nobody showed up to take a single picture and no photos were ever listed in the local paper like most of the other area high schools. I see some of the productions then and now and wonder how we screwed that up? SMH
