The rankings you have are how old? Meaning, did they have more games played than listed, or when were those records posted.

We get a later start in the Chicago area as you know. As of April 30th, the Chicago Tribune has the following teams ranked with their won/loss records.

1. St.Rita (19-3) (Defending Summer State Champs)
2. Lyons Township (19-4)
3. Lockport (18-4) (Defending State Champions)
4. Joliet Catholic (18-3)
5. Hinsdale Central (18-4)
6. Benet Academy (17-5)
7. Nazareth Academy (21-3)
8. Stevenson (16-5)
9. Naperville Central (17-5)
10. Naperville North (14-3)

Not to slight anyone, but Lyons Township, St.Rita, Joliet Catholic, were ranked in Baseball America or in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper at one time or another, either pre-season or in season.

Many kids from those top ten teams, and from teams that are ranked in even lower, are going to many top DI universities like North Carolina or Purdue, etc. not to mention kids who are starters that are going to DII and DIII schools.

Lyons was ranked last year, 15th for approximately four weeks, in Baseball America. I didn't really understand how or why we were ranked that way. I called BA, and they said that a variety of coaches, and other baseball types, cast votes. That is how the schools are ranked.

I guess that maybe this year they think our schools are weak, and don't warrant the attention!! I'm not criticizing, just wondering why the Illinois/Midwest schools don't get their props.
Play Dog.....

You might think that, but subjectively speaking, the rankings supplied from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper are compiled from coaches and other media types.

PG can evaluate talent on an individual basis, and they do that very well. But where does PG get their information from? Is it the same sources as BA or CBN? I don't know.

PG, can you help us with that information?
