Yes it would be difficult. You'd need to be an exceptional baseball player, not a pretty good baseball player.
One thing I have noticed about UNC is that they have very few players from outside NC. Not sure why this is in their particular case, but at some colleges the programs get charged in their internal budgets with how much they spend on scholarships. Even though all programs are capped at 11.7 scholarships total, if you spend those on in-state students, you spend less. This puts a premium on in-state recruiting, to save program dollars for other things.
So my two suggestions would be: Move to NC, and work on your spelling!

UNC is a state school and they're required to draw 85% of their students from within North Carolina. That leaves very few openings for out-of-staters, so the competition to get in is tough. You can find the details on how many people apply and how many are accepted on their website.

In VA, state universities are only required to take 60%. Some take more, but UVA, William & Mary and others like those out-of-staters. They bring in more money and the keen competition drives up the SAT averages.

Percentage of in-state students required in NC is high, but its mandated by some state body or other and is detailed on the UNC website.
Percentage of in-state students doesn't apply to the sports teams. Look at the basketball roster ... only 4 out of 16 are in-state students.

I know they don't have to follow strict %'s, but the internal budget impact may still be a factor, as is the ability to get the kid through admissions. Sounds like getting someone admitted might be harder at UNC if they are out of state. Know anything about that?
Getting admitted to UNC is tough ... just like getting admitted to UVA is tough. They both have very high academic standards.
Over 18,000 applied as freshmen last year, 3700 admitted. Average SAT was above 1300.
It's a very well respected school academically and athletically. That allows them to "cherry-pick" in-state for athletes in some sports. Seems to have worked this year.
