We are a bit overwhelmed as to how to find the right select team for our boys. One of my son's high school coaches has suggested him for a select team but when doing my research I found a friend who had been on the team and wouldn't recommend this team at all. There are so many organizations out there, how should we find our right fit and/or is it even a choice we have? Both boys are 6'2" and lefties - 8th and 10th grade.

Good, was hoping you would get a local reply... Welcome to the site. You can also search the site... I typed in "texas travel" and quite a few posts came up. You may also want to post in the Texas forum for more local feedback like Soylent. Definitely a good idea to get as much feedback as possible. As you accumulate a list of options, search team websites for rosters and reach out to players/families... hopefully you may recognize some names. Also, bump this on Monday if you don't get more replies... site tends to be more active on weekdays.
We are in exactly the same situation. We have been told to find the top team of whatever organization you chose, but knowing which is the top team and also finding a team that is what they SAY they are and not just taking your money. I would also love any info you can on it.

Cabbagedad is exactly right... doing searches of past threads is a great way to utilize this website. If you do an "advanced search", this will allow you to set some parameters... in this case, would search only the "Texas Forum" in order to get more targetted threads and you might want to order the responses by date so that you're getting the most recent feedback first. Precious few topics get started or questions asked on the HSBBW that weren't touched on at some point in the past. You can run a search on any of the specific coaches and organizations that you come into contact with. Please dialog back with any further questions for me... and best of luck to your players this Spring and Summer!
Texas Stallions have 16U and 18U teams looking for players. We are scheduled to play in the Lone Star league in Collin County and Dallas County. The teams are also already set to play at Oral Roberts Univ., Dallas Baptist Univ. , and TCU. Additional tournaments will be added to allow players to be seen by college scouts.
