Goyarddad,

If your son plays at a high level and travel does not bother you then I would think you would want the best travel team AAU etc. for that age group. If he is 14U AAU is generally the better travel competition. NVTBL is more organized along HS lines as previously mentioned.

Try this link to Va. 14u teams through ETEAMS. You should be able to get a flavor for what's available. knowing what area your looking to live in would be needed to provide more specific help. I'm assuming you know the communities/cities in NVA.

There are many strong public high school programs in the area: Oakton, Westfield, Robinson, Madison, Edison, Herndon, Stone Bridge and Osborn. I'm sure I missed a few. As far as private schools, Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg is coached by a former catcher for Clemson University and the Cleveland Indians organization. While public schools are limited to a 20 game regular season, NDA schedules 45-50 games and play 12-15 against the top teams in North and South Carolina starting in February.
I agree with the statement recently posted:

"lax attitudes" seem to be creeping into VA Legion and NVTBL over several of the last years."

For CGL of past year, there seems to be fewer DI players and more DII and DIII .

Industrial Leagues from 50's, 60's & 70's (ie HF, Black Sox, Atlantic Masonary, Martz Insurance, do not exist, and have probably turned to the MSBL or MABL or DC Baseball.

Bear

goyarddad, sent you a PM
The whole Concorde district is very powerful, one of the best districts in the country, you would be a safe bet going to any of those schools. Madison is ranked #9 in the country by baseball america, so if you think your son could play at that level thats a great thing. Also if you want him to go to a private school, look a PVI (Paul VI) last year they were #23 in the nation before losing three in a row... Hope that helps.
