Hey guys! I am in a dilemma and was just wondering if anyone out there might could help or knew of someone that could. I am finishing up my dissertation for my doctorate degree in education. I need someone who knows how to run t-tests and can summarize that for me (chpt 4). My committee person that was going to help has been busy with other things. I would normally not post something like this, but I am in panic mode since my defense is in July.

Ok guys - Like I said, I'm in a desperate state! I thought maybe one of you might know of someone who has experience in qualitative and/or quantitative statistical analysis. I have done a web search and contacted several people. Cheapest I could find was $700. It needs to be run in a SPSS program.

Tychco-
I think the long toss is exactly what I need! It would help alleviate some of the frustration!

I am no help w/stats or math I can't even help the Middle School students when they ask.. SOOOOO SORRY..

I am sure you found these sites as well but maybe others will look at them and be able to help you out. Also, PM momandcpa she is the only 1 I know that has a math background given she is a CPA, maybe she can direct you the right way.

Here is what I found:

A colleague of mine just finished her dissertation and offered the following.

Depending on your topic, the T-test should provide support of your thesis in statistical numbers.
State the number of what you're studying, name the number pro and the number con. Then state what the investigation was to test.
An example would be: Ten pitchers with exceptional power were studied, five threw over 90mph, five under 90 mph. The investigation was to test the influence of height/weight on the velocity/accuracy of the ball.

This is a lame example, but it should help. Once you test your theory, write the summary including the statistical information.

I'm sure you've thought of contacting recent grads to pick their brains. Is there another professor available to give you input or would that be considered stepping on one's toes?

There are also statistical consultants that do T-Tests for a living.

Thanks everyone! I know how to run the t-tests and everything else I need to do. It is just time consuming to run it without SPSS, and it is also more time consuming to write it all up. I have contacted at least 6-7 people, and the cheapest by far to do all that I need is $700, but that is also including analyzing the qualitative data that I have. I guess it will be worth it to fork over the money instead of worrying about it. Just thought if ya'll knew a statistics person that might be a little cheaper, it would help.

My husband said that now all of ya'll know that I am a nerd. Oh, well. At least I love baseball!!!!

And talking about statistics - I did hate that probability thingie that was on TV during the college world series!
I already called Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! They said they don’t.
