I know a lot of the kids around the area read this and I wanted to send them some philosophy for 2006:

Cherish these moments; they will end.

Play with passion and results will follow.

Do not be a victim of bad coaching or bad umpiring. Bad things happen. Deal with it, overcome it and show your ability to handle adversity.

The more you care about your stats, the less you care about the team.

Understand the game is not about you. It was here before you and will be here after you. Respect the game.

Develop amnesia following bad outings. Everybody goes 0 for or gets lit up.

It can end at anytime. Play like it ends tomorrow.

Listen and learn from those that know more about the game than you do. There are a bunch of them.

Do the little things that make everyone around you better.

No matter the situation or circumstance, COMPETE.

Happy Baseball,

I am hoping that in 3 years my 10 year olds can beat Ray. Promise me you will be in the dugout. I could not take him by myself. This team has 7 kids from Keller, 2 from Southlake and 2 from Grapevine. I guess you can call us the 5-5A "Dirtbags".

Ray is a character. I saw him on television at the USSSA finals for his 12 year old group. He has not changed a bit; we can take him though. Hope your team does well this summer. Let me know when they are close and I'll come out to see you.

GloveMan I know a lot of coaches and maybe some parents didn't care for him especially the way he talked with the kids at times. However, the kids that play for him as I understand it love to play on his teams and they were always tough to beat. We had a mutual respect for each other, I only coached against him twice and we split.
