I would not worry, as a 2010 he has time, and the coaches know it. Their focus is the 2008's primarily. You still may get some letters later this year, once they get the 08's signed.

Thanks LTG. I appreciate the response. That makes sense. We will continue the effort to get better and get exposure. It is nice, as it is his dream, and I simply get to benefit from watching him work for it

Also keep in mind that other things are looked at by college coaches and scouts---going 12 for 24 may not be impressive to them as a guy who goes 0 for 12 but hit 12 ropes at fielders---it is not always about the average

I dont think a 2010 can receive anything in writing from a school prior to Sept 1 of 2008.

maybe TR could clarify but I am not so sure about that. I am looking at a letter from a D1 coach to a 2010, it is basic intro letter (signed by the HC) and included a questionaire (to be returned). I do not think this coach would have sent it if it was against the rules.

I have a son in a similar situation so I am very interested in this question as well. I have been told that college coaches cannot initiate contact with a player before November of their junior year. However, if the player contacts that school or coach directly then it is a different story.

Can someone please verify?

A coach is allowed to send via mail/email basic information about the school as well as a questionaire for the potential recruit to fill out and send back. This is the only types of correspondence allowed until the prospect begins his Junior year, after that emails are allowed both ways. Of course the prospect can intiate contact at any time as well as campus visits with the coach as long as the conversations are within the school campus.
