goose, goose, goose. we meet again...

alright buddy, before I came to the Bash, ND had a "blue collar" showcase camp in the summer and fall. Maerineri (sp) is there, i saw a kid get signed there before. It's a great time, good coaches, awesome field, awesome place. check it out.

from the hills of mane to the western plains,

Well, I feel that the bottomline is simple. You need to find out some camp information. By camp info, I mean that you need to find out when Notre Dame has their skills camps. I'm sure they had or will soon have something over the winter and something else this summer. If you can't find the information on their official web page, you need to find out an e-mail address of one of the coaches or the AD.
Our son was recruited by ND. Here is some recruiting info that we found interesting. They don't recruit great numbers (at least not at the recruiting stage where you're taking an official visit). I think only 7 players were in with my son the weekend of the ND vs. USC football game... what an experience! We were told that they keep the roster at 28 and no JuCo transfers. All good news for incoming FR. The coaches were all great, especially Rooney and Mainieri. When my son called to tell them he was going elsewhere, they were truly the most gracious and classy coaches we dealt with. My son was seen at Area Codes by their staff. I'm not telling you anything new, but grades were a huge selling point in getting recruited. High test scores will also get their attention since the incoming ACT average is 31.
BTW, ND was my first choice for my son, but he didn't see eye to eye with mom on this one. Its not for everyone.
Son was seen by Notre Dame in Jupiter. In 2003 Coach Rooney left Stetson for Notre Dame and son became very interested in the program. They are very honest and up front in their recruiting and very difficult to become one of the final few they sign each year.
KC,
My husband was VERY supportive of my son attending Notre Dame. However, geographically it just would not have been favorable for him, and although son a very good student, I felt their academic requirements were an indication that the courses would be too much. You are correct, it is not for everyone.
Goose -
ND's advanced camp for 16-18 yr olds is scheduled for July 5-8. Had planned to take our son, but he did an academic crash-and-burn this past semester, so ND will be off his list. Met son ND parents at a game a couple of years ago at UConn. One of them, told us to plug into hsbbweb and also told us that his son was signed because of an ND summer camp.
Good Luck
Coach Rooney saw my son play at East Cobb during the summer WWBA 17U tournament. ND was not on his radar at the moment because we are from Texas and we were looking for something close to home. But after Coach Mainieri made a visit to the house (and we did our research about the program and school) they shot to the top of my son's list and he signed with them in November.

It was purely about being in the right place at the exact right time. He count's his blessing everyday and is looking forward to a great new adventure.
ND was at the 17U east Cobb and the 18U east Cobb. They first saw my son at the PG event in Ft Myers during the fall of soph year. During the spring of jr year, Coach Grewe came in to watch a high school game. They continued contact when they were at PG National and East Coast Pro.

My son was to also vist during the USC game weekend but committed before that. It became a matter of position, finances and personal feel.

ND and Illinois were the only two schools that made him go through the admissions process before they would make an offer. He was accepted to both. All the others looked at his grades and said "No problem"... Duke had an issue with his SAT's (1100) and would have made a conditional offer...
Mazur was the ace of our 17U summer team, the Austin Baseball Club. They made it to the semi-finals at the East Cobb WWBA 17U tournament against some really good competition. He pitched the quarterfinal game and won 1-0. My son led the game off with a walk, stole second and score the only run on a sac hit.

I'm not sure I can tell you how hard he throws, but he is an excellent pitcher with command of at least 4 different pitches and is a work horse. His ERA this summer was just about nothing. He loves to compete and is of great character. I'm glad he is coming to ND.
