I took my son to the tryouts for the northest 14u squad last summer. My son made the team and went down to NC for the weekend in Sept. Overall a great experience. I would say that the one disappointing thing was that the team that my son was on was not very good. Only 40-50 players tried out for the team. Of them, only 7-9 were players. I think we had a total of 18 players on the team. The bottom 5 players were not very good at all and should not have been at a venue like this. You can imagine how bad the kids who did not make the team were. The teams from tex, so cal and nor cal were very good.

It was a great expereince for my son as we got an opportunity to play against some very good competition. It just would have been better if we could have put together a more competitive team to compete against the stronger teams.
My son was invited to participate on one of the USA Stars at-large teams last year. It was a terrific experience playing against some good teams from around the country, and he made some new friends at the same time. He also fell in love with NC. The NTIS event is well-run, the facilities are top notch. Highly recommended.

But go in with reasonable expectations. There were over 200 17U's there last year and USA Baseball only nominated 8 to move on to the next phase of the national team evaluation process. Enjoy the venue, play some good ball, and don't sweat anything else.

Good luck!
