maybe somebody can set me straight. i just looked at a national team that had 9 coaches a head coach plus 8(one was a trainer but listed as a coach) however just in my area i sometimes go to a game and I see coaches practically falling over one another. I went to a high school web site of a local team and they had 5 or 6 coaches with the varsity. they had titles like Pitching coach infield coach outfield coach catching coach etc etc etc. One team had a title of Player development!!!!
a little much?

Will,
I would guess a lot of those coaches are former players just getting their feet wet in the coaching business and doing it for little or nothing. I think my son's team had 4 or 5 of those last year with all of them having pro and/or D1 experience. They were great young men who just wanted to be around baseball and help out. One of them was doing it while waiting to start his training with the CHP so there wasn't even the lure of getting coaching experience on his resume.

On the other hand it could be a private school paying the coaches as YGD may be implying.
