The rookie leagues may disappear. But stadiums/franchises will play musical chairs with affiliation over the next couple of years. The old stadiums will be the losers. Attendance winners will lure new teams. The Lowell Spinners (NY-P) sell out most games. Some team will want to move there.

i remember Chris Young saying there were so few people at Tucson AAA games he could hear the stadium lights buzzing. Tucson ultimately lost out in minor league musical chairs. Plus the stadium was old.

Yeah I found it strange that the Spinners would at risk. Every game I've been to was very well attended. I wonder if it's simply a geographical thing with the PawSox moving to Worcester, maybe they don't want to dilute the fan base? I am sure a collegiate summer team would love to call LeLacheur Park home. What a great place to watch baseball.

9 team out of 14 are under scrutiny. That's basically the whole league. I wonder if these teams could survive without affiliation.

First of all the minor league scenario is just at the proposal stage. Part of the proposal is cut down the draft to twenty rounds and have an MLB sponsored Indy League for marginal prospects. Some of the rookie league franchises could get an MLB Indy League team. The Sox would be wise to move their A level team to Lowell.
