It looked as if Hickory had used up all its mojo in its victory against GB the evening before. Ty Brown was a monster on the mound and the NR bats were working overtime. Kyle Moore was a stud at the plate and must have felt like it was a slow-pitch softball game after going 4 for 4. NR also also had 2 homers. NR had the look of a senior laden team with loads of experience last night. Looks like the Southeastern District title will go through NR (literally and figuratively). They were definitely feeling themselves last night.

An observation from last year, was the uncanny ability of South County to fight through any complacency that can easily arise, when a team has such talent. With all the variables, it is very difficult to go undefeated in baseball, especially in a tough district, yet they did. (Until the state championship game, of course) It seems as though the "complacency bug" may have bitten NR last week. People are motivated by different things. Perhaps, a loss is what was needed to deliver a wake-up call. There's a lot of baseball to be played, but they seemed to respond against Hickory.
